Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) takes place every year in September in Toronto, Canada.
Films which premiere at Toronto are often nominated for Academy Awards the following year.
TIFF does not hand out individual prizes for Best Actor or Actress but focuses on amongst others the following awards:
People’s Choice Award & Best Canadian Feature Film
Opening Night Film – From the Sky Down, a documentary film about the band U2, directed by Davis Guggenheim
People’s Choice Award: – Where do we go now? directed by Nadine Labaki, starring Nadine Labaki, Claude Baz Moussawbaa, Leyla Hakim
Best Canadian Feature Film: Monsieur Lazhar directed by Philippe Falardeau, starring Mohamed Fellag, Sophie Nélisse, Émilien Néron & Danielle Proulx
